Week #1: Words of Love – Part One
What is Love?
Websters Definition of love: to feel great affection for (someone): to feel love for (someone): to feel sexual or romantic love for (someone): to like or desire (something) very much: to take great pleasure in (something).
Love is a feeling, an energy, a state of “being.”
Why Love is the answer: Love has a very positive influence in our lives. The absence of love in our lives can be devastating…a feeling of emptiness and unfulfillment.
Why Love…Why Now! Since the creation of humankind, Love has always been there to create balance in our lives. It brings us up when we’re feeling down…makes us smile…gives us a feeling of warmth. In today’s world, there seems to be a greater need than ever for love to balance the negativity and insensitivity to one another. Most of the 7.5 billion people in the world have so much love to give…have great hearts. It’s just a handful…maybe just millions of others who try so hard to ruin it for the others. In the end…love always wins. We must join together in the name of Love and spread kindness wherever we are.
An alphabetical guide to show how LOVE will open the door to positive relationships:
(Part One)
* Appreciation: Take the time to appreciate the people in your life. List those in your life who you appreciate the most…those who help bring out the absolute best in you!
Caring: The positive feeling we get from caring for and about others is an important part of our self-esteem. We live in a world where greed and power have overshadowed concern for our fellow human beings, nature and animals. What do you care most about…really…?
Cheerfulness: Having the right attitude throughout each day attracts good people and good things into our lives. How does having a kind, loving perspective bring goodness into your life?
Communication: Talking TO someone, rather than AT someone is extremely important for optimum communication. Many mistakes have been made because someone didn’t hear or understand correctly. People need to properly express themselves and adequately listen to one another.
Compassion: Having compassion for others and lifting their spirits is one of the most important actions human beings can take. Give one or two examples of how you have done that in the past week or two.
Courtesy: There is more to courtesy than just being polite. Many people are just too busy or stressed to have the awareness or inclination to hold the door for another… say hello to a stranger…or acknowledge another’s presence in an elevator. This week, think about how you honor the presence of others in your immediate environment.
Dignity: It is our inalienable right to maintain our dignity as we move through life. Again, helping another to maintain their dignity increases our self-esteem. How have you helped others maintain their dignity?
Empathy: The more wisdom we acquire in life, the more we can relate to what another person is feeling, and the easier it is to help them through the experience. Give an example of how you empathize with others.
Faith: Never losing Faith, even in great despair, is one of the true lessons of life. Help others realize this by pointing out all the times they needlessly worried, or feared a situation that worked out just fine.
Feelings are the common denominator for all human beings, When it comes to feelings, there are no gender, racial, cultural, age, or language barriers. This is the essence of our “I’m A Person” song (available as a download on your membership home page).
