Welcome to Week #3 February
Words of Love – Part 3:
- Praise – One of the greatest problems in our society today is low self-esteem. In many cases, this stems from a lack of praise from parents, teachers, peers, et.al. during the early childhood and adolescent years. Giving someone a “pat on the back” when they do something nice or accomplish something good in their life is not a big deal for us to do…but it can certainly make a huge difference in one’s life…perhaps for years to come.
- Respect – Imagine what our world would be like if each person made it a priority to respect the rights of others at all times – the right to exist, the right to privacy, the right to be free, the right to survive, and the right to pursue their goals and dreams….all in conjunction with Universal laws. Let us not be too quick to judge another and impose a sentence that can be hurtful and mean. Everyone deserves a chance to become the great human being they were meant to be.
- Sensitivity – Being sensitive to another’s feelings is what empathy is all about. Slow down your pace…take time to smell the roses and tune into the wonderful attributes others have to offer. Lack of sensitivity to others can quickly destroy the potential for positive, rewarding relationships.
- Sharing – Share your thoughts, your energy, your desires, your enthusiasm, your possessions. Use them to enrich the lives of others, and you will find it will enrich your own life dramatically. Sharing is caring and caring is sharing!
- Smile – Take a moment to smile…it feels good! In fact, it’s contagious and a great door opener. The process of smiling actually uses facial muscles that help reduce tension and gives you a more glowing look. Just one smile to an elderly person, a child, or someone in a wheelchair can make their entire day! And you can do it…how powerful is that!
- Spiritual – There is so much more to being spiritual than going to church or synagogue. It’s putting all the lessons you learn from life into practice that really counts. Going to church on Sunday, and then conning someone in a business deal on Monday is not what spirituality is all about. Practicing love, kindness, and empathy for others throughout each and every day is what spirituality is all about!
- Understanding – Always put your best foot forward to be understanding with others, and you will surely win their confidence. This means being a good listener. Listening is an art, accompanied by patience and a desire to help. Understanding is an art accompanied by compassion. You cannot help someone strategize on handling a problem if you don’t fully understand the problem.
